Buton Regency (Kabupaten Buton) is a regency of Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi Province. The capital is at Pasar Wajo, but the administrative centre is at Bau-Bau on the southwest of the island, although that city is administratively separate from the Regency.

However, in 2012 it was announced that the regency was to be split, with the southern districts forming a new Buton Selatan Regency, and the central districts forming a new Buton Tengah Regency.
