Burlington is a town in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 152 at the 2010 census.[3]

Geography

Burlington is located at 36°53′59″N 98°25′24″W / 36.89972°N 98.42333°W / 36.89972; -98.42333 (36.899844, -98.423379)[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2), all of it land.

Burlington lies along State Highway 8/11.[5]

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 156 people, 60 households, and 48 families residing in the town. The population density was 567.9 people per square mile (223.1/km²). There were 71 housing units at an average density of 258.5 per square mile (101.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.08% White, 0.64% African American, and 1.28% from two or more races.

There were 60 households out of which 40.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.3% were married couples living together, 5.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% were non-families. 20.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 2.96.

In the town the population was spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 17.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 90.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $34,375, and the median income for a family was $34,844. Males had a median income of $28,125 versus $17,500 for females. The per capita income for the town was $17,234. None of the families and 1.2% of the population were living below the poverty line.
