Burhaneddin Cem

Prince Burhaneddin Cem Efendi (born February 2, 1920 - died October 31, 2008 in New York, USA)[1] was the heir apparent to the headship of the Ottoman dynasty. He was born at Beşiktaş, Istanbul as the son of Prince Ibrahim Tevfik (1874–1931) and his fourth wife Hadice Sadiye Hanim (1898–1986). Prince Burhaneddin was a descendant of Sultan Abdülmecid I. He married Irene Starosselskaya of Russian–Georgian noble descent (born 1928) and has two children, Nilüfer Sultan (born 1953) and Şehzade Selim Efendi (1955).[2]
