Budhabare, Mechi is a Village Development Committee in Jhapa District in the Mechi Zone of south-eastern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 16,567 people residing in 3091 individual households.[1]

Budhabare is located just below the hills of Ilam. Budhabare is named for the market that is located there every Wednesday (Budhabar in Nepali). The market grew in importance tremendously after the highway to Ilam was constructed, as Budhabare now lies between Ilam and the Prithvi Highway which connects to the rest of Nepal. It is the most fertile area of Jhapa district and grows 2/4 part of rice, corn and Supari.

Facilities in Budhabare

Budhabare VDC has one health post center and so many organizations working for the development of VDC. The Nepal Red Cross Society Sub Chapter Budhabare is working hard for the awareness of the local people. But it is lacking some of the financial support and it is expecting to have its own ambulance to support local people.

The Census 2011 shows the total household in the village is 5,270 and total population is 22,936. The male population is 10,938 and female population is 11,998.

For education, there are two government higher secondary schools (Buddha Adarsha Ma. Vi. Budhabare-6 and Adarsha Ma. Vi. Jayapur, Budhabare-4) and three private higher secondary schools (Karnali International Boarding school, Jyoti English school and Mahananda Sikshya Sadan),moreover there is recently established Montessori school named Wisdom National Montessori School. There are numbers of lower secondary and Primary school in the V.D.C.

There are many temples like Ram Janaki Temple(mandir), Jai Hanuman Temple located middle of Budhabare Bazar(Market). Shri Krishan Pranami Temple is located in Gairi Gaun. Than Bishnu Temple in Budhare-6. There is one movie theater in Budhabare, Durgadevi chalchitra Mandir.

Physiographic Setting

Budhabare lies in the foot hills of Chure and Mahabharat hills of Ilam District. Its almost consist the Terai Plain rarely in northern part of Hokse and southern part of Burne. The eastern part is comparatively fertile land than the western part. In western part the Biring Khola which the sorrow of Jhapa district effect its left course mainly in monsoon season. The western part (Madanpur) and Northern part (Hokse) is deficiency in groundwater resources. There is about 10–30 m changes is water table from monsoon to dry season.
