The Bucharest Open is a women's professional tennis tournament held in Bucharest, Romania. Held since 2014, this WTA International-level event is played outdoors on the red clay courts of the Romanian capital.[1] It takes place the week after Wimbledon.[2]
With Romania enjoying a renaissance on the WTA at the moment (Simona Halep, Sorana Cîrstea, Monica Niculescu and Alexandra Cadanțu all ranked in the Top 100, and former Top 40 players Alexandra Dulgheru and Irina-Camelia Begu seemingly headed back from injury), the Bucharest Open will debut on the calendar the week of July 7.[2]
