Bryan Johnson is an American entrepreneur, best known as the founder of Braintree, an online and mobile electronic commerce payment provider, which sold to eBay in 2013 for $800 million.[1][2][3][4]

Career

Johnson graduated with a BA in International Studies from Brigham Young University in 2003.[5][6][7] He later attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.[8]

In 2007, Johnson started Braintree while still in graduate school.[9][10] Braintree helps businesses accept credit card payments by providing a merchant account, payment gateway, recurring billing, and credit card storage.[11][12] Braintree does more than $8 billion in annual credit card processing, with $2 billion coming through mobile devices.[13][14] In 2011, Braintree ranked #47 in the Inc. 500 list.[15] In 2013, Braintree was acquired by eBay for $800 million.[16]

Since founding Braintree, Johnson has been on Crain's list of 40 Under 40 and was listed in its annual Tech 25 and Tech 50.[6][17][18]
