Broadview University, formerly Utah Career College, is a for-profit college providing specialized career training for health science, business, legal science, information technology and entertainment arts. Faculty members have professional on-the-job experience in their fields of instruction. Broadview University is accredited by the nationally recognized Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).[1] for-profit acceditor, but is not regionally accredited. Broadview has five locations and offers a number of programs online.
History
Broadview University, originally The Bryman School, and later Utah Career College, was founded in downtown Salt Lake City in 1977. In 1988, the school moved to a more central location for Salt Lake City Valley, 1144 West 3300 South. In October 2000, Utah Career College moved to its current location in West Jordan, and in 2005 expanded into additional space to accommodate growth. In 2006, the school began offering bachelor's degrees. In 2007, UCC opened a branch campus in Layton. In 2008, it opened a campus in Orem and began offering fully online programs through its West Jordan campus. In 2010, the institution changed its name to Broadview University and added campuses in Salt Lake City, Utah and Boise, Idaho. At that time it added master's degrees and entertainment arts programs to its curriculum.
The institution was granted permission to award associate of applied science degrees in 1996, bachelor of science degrees in 2006, and bachelor of fine arts degrees, Master of Science in Management degrees and Master of Business Administration degrees in 2010.[2]
In the winter of 2011 the Salt Lake campus became Broadview Entertainment Arts University (BEAU), focusing exclusively on entertainment arts and adding additional programs.
Tuition
Tuition is $375.00 per credit hour for full time students taking 12-16 credits and $435.00 per credit for part time students taking 11 credits or less. There are additional lab fees and special equipment fees which vary by program and course. The expected total cost, (tuition only), for a bachelor of fine arts degree is $67,500 for full time and $78,300 for part time. Various financial aid programs are available though the university.

Program Advisory Committee (PAC)
The curriculum of each program is reviewed semi annually by a program advisory committee (PAC) consisting of professionals in related fields. As an example, one of the entertainment arts programs has PAC members from companies such as Smart Bomb Interactive and Avalanche Software (a subsidiary of Disney Interactive Studios).
Accreditation
Broadview University is nationally accredited by Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
Broadview University Medical Assisting programs at Layton and West Jordan are accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (http://www.caahep.org ) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
Broadview's Business degrees lack AACSB accreditation. Broadview's Information Technology degrees lack CAC/ABET accreditation.
The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program, at the West Jordan campus, is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
The Broadview University Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology programs at the West Jordan and Layton campuses are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) (http://www.avma.org) as programs for educating veterinary technicians.
