Dr. Bridget Forrester (formerly Sharpe and Marone) is a fictional character on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She first appeared in 1992 as the infant daughter of Brooke Logan and Eric Forrester. She is currently portrayed by actress Ashley Jones.
Casting
The role was originated by various child actresses. Agnes Bruckner portrayed Bridget as a rebellious teenager from early 1997 to 1999.[1] In 2000, Jennifer Finnigan began portraying Bridget to critical acclaim. She earned three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Female Actress In 2002, 2003, 2004; she won each time.[2] In 2004, when Finnigan stepped down from the role, the public reacted negatively.
In December 2004, Two time Daytime Emmy nominee Ashley Jones (Megan Dennison, The Young and the Restless) took over the role of Bridget Forrester.[3] While her performance was praised, some still wished that Finnigan would return to portray Bridget. The character left for an amount of time in 2011, returning a year later for another short stint.
Born on-air on December 30, 1992, Bridget's age has been changed for storyline reasons. She turned 13 in 1997, and turned 18 in 2000. Her age has continued in the new timeline.
Storyline
Bridget Forrester was the second child born to fashion tycoon Eric Forrester and Brooke Logan. She had an older brother, Rick born in 1990. She had four paternal half-siblings, being Thorne, Felicia, Kristen and a fourth sister who died of microcephalic, Angela. The day Ridge Forrester was set to marry Dr. Taylor Hamilton, Brooke discovered her pregnancy. She had slept with both Ridge and Eric, meaning there were two possibilities for fathers. After failing to get Ridge to leave Taylor for her, Brooke went into labor and gave birth with the help of Ridge and Taylor at Big Bear Cabin. Soon after the baby was born, they had a paternity test (which was tampered with by Sheila Carter) that at the time confirmed Ridge as the father. Brooke named the baby Bridget, a combination of her and Ridge's names. Like Rick, her elder brother, Bridget had a tough childhood. As a baby, she was shot by drive-by shooters while at the park with her babysitter. In 1996, a mysterious letter put into question Bridget's paternity. It was not until this time that Eric was revealed to be Bridget's biological father. Bridget was then forced to understand how Eric, and not Ridge, was her father.
By 1997, Bridget and Rick had become Teenagers. Bridget disapproved of Grant and Brooke's marriage and refused to accept him as her stepfather. In 1998, Bridget ran away from home after Ridge told her that he was leaving Brooke and going back to Taylor. In Spring 1999, Bridget began a brief relationship with the slightly older C.J Garrison, who had fallen in love with Rebecca "Becky" Moore, the cousin of Amber Moore. C.J would leave Bridget for Becky, leaving her devastated. Bridget also formed a friendship with Lauren Fenmore in the Summer of 1999 while learning about the Fashion Industry. In the fall of 1999, Bridget briefly schemed with Kimberly Fairchild to break up Rick and Amber's marriage. Bridget eventually fell into the background, and was completely dropped off the show's canvas by October 1999.
Bridget returned to L.A in July 2000 - now appearing as a young adult. That Fall, she was seduced by Deacon Sharpe, who wanted to be with Amber (who was married to Bridget's brother, Rick). Nonetheless, Bridget loved him. In early 2001, Bridget and Deacon married secretly in Las Vegas. Eventually Bridget and Deacon began to drift apart. During a conversation with Deacon about her love for Ridge (even though she was married to Thorne), Brooke didn't know Thorne was listening. He then ended his relationship with Brooke, who again immediately tried to get Ridge back. Once Ridge turned her down again, she slipped into a depression. Deacon found her having wine by the fireplace. One thing led to another, and they ended up having sex. A months long affair began behind Bridget's back, resulting in the birth of Hope Logan. Brooke married Whip Jones to try to cover up her adultery with her daughter's husband but eventually, Bridget found the truth out through overhearing Deacon and Brooke discussing their love for each other. Bridget was devastated. Bridget was livid when she had to help deliver her husband's child at Big Bear, along with Stephanie Forrester.
C.J Garrison came back to town in spring 2002 with a huge chip on his shoulder for everyone, especially the Forresters. He also began running the coffee shop, Insomnia, again. He and Bridget dated.
Bridget also, around the same time, met Dr Mark MacClaine (Michael Dietz),who was her medical school mentor. C.J. immediately became jealous of Mark, sensing that Mark had intentions to be in a relationship with Bridget. After a few months, Mark resigned as Bridget's mentor and began to date her. C.J. later found out that Mark was in fact his long lost half-brother, with Bridget in the middle of it all. Bridget also had a relationship with Oscar Marone. Oscar proposed to Bridget, and the two began planning a wedding. They left L.A. for Copenhagen so that Bridget could finish her studies, but Bridget returned alone a few months later, announcing that she and Oscar had broken up.
Upon her return, Bridget began having feelings for Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) who had previously shared a passionate relationship with her mother, Brooke. With her mother's blessings she began dating Nick. They became engaged, but their wedding ceremony was cut short when Ridge's wife, Taylor Forrester, who was thought to be dead, returned. Her return meant that Ridge and Brooke's marriage was invalid. This caused Nick to re-evaluate his feelings for Brooke, who still wanted to fight for Ridge, who was falling for Taylor again. Another marriage attempt in Las Vegas goes awry. For the third time, the wedding wass stopped by Stephanie who interrupted the ceremony revealing she faked a heart attack so that Taylor and Ridge would marry. Bridget, heartbroken and thinking that fate was trying to tell them something by the wedding interruptions, leaves Nick.
When Ridge decided to stay with Taylor, Nick confessed his feelings to Brooke who decided to give him another chance. Bridget found out she was pregnant, halting Brooke and Nick's plans to have a life together. Bridget and Nick were married. When Nick and Bridget's was stillborn in February 2006, Bridget realized that she was only hanging on to Nick for the sake of Dominick (Felicia's son who Bridget had gotten close to) and they divorced. No clue who Felicia is.
After Nick, Bridget had a relationship with a man named Dante Damiano. It was later revealed that Dominic (Felicia's son) who was believed to be Nick's son, was actually Dante's son—Bridget and Dante opted to raise the son as their own when Felicia died from cancer. However it was later revealed that Felicia survived her cancer, and Dominick returned to Felicia as a mother. Bridget soon realized that she was not truly in love with Dante. The couple broke up and Dante realized that he wants to raise his son together with Felicia, the child's mother. Bridget once again found out she was pregnant for the second time. The child was miscarried. Dante left, to work on a sculpture in Italy.
After Nick had married and divorced Taylor Forrester, Bridget won back Nick, and started to help him raise his child (and her biological brother) Jack Hamilton Marone. Bridget even enlisted the help of her aunt, Katie, to convince Nick that she is the one for him.
However, Katie was also helping Nick raise Jack, and not long after, they began to have strong feelings toward each other. While Katie was dying for a heart disease, she and Nick made love. Bridget and Nick married shortly after. It was revealed (a month after the wedding) that Katie was pregnant with Nick's child. Bridget left Nick. The baby was miscarried. Bridget sought for a divorce, which was finalized on September 23, 2008. However, Nick's mother, Jackie, is still hopeful that Nick will find his way back to Bridget, whom she really cares about, and away from Katie, whom she doesn't like very much.
Bridget and Nick reunited once again and remarried in 2009. They had a honeymoon in Hawaii. They attempted to have a baby via surrogate, with the help of Aggie Jones. Aggie miscarried the baby. Bridget, heartbroken and confused had sex with Jackie Marone's younger husband, Owen Knight. This led to Bridget's second pregnancy. Nick left Bridget when the truth of the affair was revealed, due to the complicated nature of the whole Nick/Bridget/Owen/Jackie dynamic (Jackie being both Nick's mother and Owen's wife). Jackie, however, stood by Owen. Bridget gave birth to a son, Logan Forrester-Knight. Nick also fired her from Jackie M Designs where she worked the last year, and divorced her again. Bridget left for an extended vacation in Hawaii after she confessed her love for Owen, but he stayed true to his wife Jackie. Bridget and Owen returned later with their son, and Jackie decided to end things with Owen. Owen and Bridget started a relationship for the sake of their son. In late February 2012, Bridget and Owen announce their decision to split in order to allow Owen to return to his marriage with Jackie.
Bridget returned to Los Angeles briefly in May 2013, where it is revealed that she has been living in New York with Owen, Jackie, and Logan.
