Brian Burrowes

The Rt Rev Arnold Brian Burrowes, OBE was an eminent Bishop[1] in the mid part of the Twentieth century. He was born on 5 October 1896 and educated at Wellington and Corpus Christi College, Oxford.[2] After World War I service with the Royal Irish Fusiliers he was Fellow, Lecturer, Dean and Chaplain of Pembroke College, Oxford until 1937. Following a spell as Principal of Salisbury Theological College and further World War II service, this time with the RNVR,[3] he was appointed Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane in 1950. Retiring five years later, he died on 15 November 1963.[4]
