Brett R. Oberholtzer (born July 1, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2013.

Career

Oberholtzer attended William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware, where he pitched for the school's baseball team.[1] He was named to the All-Delaware team in 2006.[2] He then enrolled at Seminole Community College, a junior college, where he continued his baseball career. The Atlanta Braves drafted in the eighth round in the 2008 MLB Draft.[1]

On July 27, 2011, Oberholtzer was named the Class AA Southern League's pitcher of the week while pitching for the Mississippi Braves.[3] The Braves traded Oberholtzer to the Houston Astros four days later, with Juan Abreu, Paul Clemens, and Jordan Schafer for Michael Bourn.[4]

Oberholtzer won his first major league start, against the Baltimore Orioles, on July 31, 2013.[5]
