Brendan James Penny is a Canadian film and television actor, perhaps best-known as "A.J. Varland" in the first season of Whistler.[1] As of 2013, he is appearing as Detective Lucas in Motive, starring Lauren Holly.
Life and career
Penny was born in Ottawa, Ontario,[1] and grew up in both Ottawa and London,[2] moving to Vancouver in 2002 to pursue an acting career. After several television roles, he became known to audiences for playing A.J. Varland in Whistler.[1]
Penny has had various roles in television series such as Kyle XY and Supernatural. His first lead role was in Whistler. He has also appeared in films and in a recurring role in Stargate: Atlantis as Todd the Wraith. His roles include shows such as Diamonds, Smallville, Blade: The Series, and The L Word. Penny starred in The Assistants. Penny also had a role as Sean in I Love You, Beth Cooper. He is currently appearing as Detective Brian Lucas in Motive. He also had a starring role in the television hit, "Flashpoint".
