Breitenbush is an unincorporated community in Marion County, Oregon, United States. The community is best known as the location of Breitenbush Hot Springs, a worker-owned retreat and conference center.
Breitenbush was named after the Breitenbush River, which in turn was named for a pioneer hunter who had preceded John Minto into the North Santiam River region who was named either John Breitenbush or (more likely) Lewis Breitenbusher. The form "Breitenbush" has been used since Minto's time. Breitenbush post office was established in 1928 and closed in 1953.[1]
