Brazzers is a pornographic production company in North America. The Brazzers online network consists of thirty-one hardcore pornography websites.
The Brazzers brand was launched in early 2005 by Ouissam Youssef, and Stephane Manos, friends at Concordia University, and Matt Keezer.[1] While their website is managed from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the majority of their scenes and photographs are shot in Las Vegas, Nevada; Los Angeles, California; and Miami, Florida.
Brazzers.com is frequently ranked as one of the 500 most-viewed websites on the internet.[2]
Recent history
Brazzers was featured on an episode of MTV’s True Life.[3] The MTV crew followed porn actress Jayden Jaymes at the 2009 AVN, capturing her meeting and greeting fans while at the Brazzers booth.
The company was acquired by Manwin in March 2010.[4]
Criticisms
Brazzers came under industry criticism for associating with tube sites such as Pornhub. In response, in 2009, Brazzers initiated an anti-piracy campaign.[5]
In 2008, after being fired by Brazzers, producer Bobby Manila charged Brazzers with a lawsuit for fraud and violating the terms of contract. The lawsuit was eventually settled out of court.[6]
In February 2010, a lawsuit was filed by Pink Visual Studios accusing Brazzers' network parent company of infringing on copyrighted content by distributing unlicensed video content on their highly trafficked free video sharing sites. Brazzers' network has been accused of benefiting from unlicensed content by indirectly benefiting from traffic from sharing sites but this is the first time a well-known studio is officially suing them. A class action lawsuit is also being considered by other studios.[7]
