Bradley Jordan Garmston (born 18 January 1994) is a footballer who plays as a defender for West Bromwich Albion. He has represented Republic of Ireland at under-19 and under-17 level.[4]

Club career

Garmston, born in Chorley, England, is a product of the West Bromwich Albion academy, making a number of appearances for the club's development squad. He was educated at The Cathedral school Lichfield and King Edward's School, Birmingham.

On 14 February 2013, Garmston joined Colchester United on a one-month youth loan, later extended to the end of the 2012–13 season.[3][5] He made his Football League debut in Colchester's 3–0 away defeat to Sheffield United on 16 February.[6] He made his 13th and final appearance for Colchester on the final day of the season, coming on as a substitute for George Porter in a 2–0 win at Carlisle United, helping the club avoid relegation.[7]

Personal life

In 2008 he was ranked as one of the top sprinters for his age in the UK. He finished 2nd in the 200m English Schools Championships Gateshead. His father (Michael) was Head Physiotherapist to the British Olympic Athletics Teams 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney. (He was a former English Schools and Uk National Champion over 200m and 400m Hurdles). Garmston's mother, Sonia Lannaman won a bronze medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russia. She also won gold in the 1978 Commonwealth Games individual 100m.[3] Ranked second in the world over 100m 1977/78. She ran one of the fastest 100m times ever 10.75 secs wind assisted in 1977 Kiev Russia Europa Cup and was 2nd in the World Cup Düsseldorf over 100m. Sonia was awarded the M.B.E 1978 for her services to sport.
