Boyapati Srinu (alternative spelling: Boyapati Sreenu) is an Indian film director, who mainly works in the Telugu film industry.

Early life

Boyapati Srinu belong to Peda Kakani which is in the outskirts of Guntur. He did his graduation in JKC College in Guntur and post-graduation in Nagarjuna University. His family have a photo studio and it was their business. He was interested in photography and have also worked as a part-time reporter for Eenadu newspaper. He was planning to start a small scale industry in Guntur’s Auto Nagar, That is when his cousin Posani Krishna Murali suggested him to join films. Srinu came to Hyderabad with him and he made him join in the direction department of Muthyala Subbaiah in 1997. Srinu worked with him for films like Oka Chinna Maata, Gokulamlo Seetha, Pelli Chesukundam, Pavitra Prema, Annayya and Manasunna Maaraju.[1]

Career

In 2005, Boyapati Srinu made his directorial debut with Bhadra, which starred Ravi Teja, Meera Jasmine, and Prakash Raj. The film went on to become a box office success, For Bhadra, Srinu approached Allu Arvind to narrate Bhadra story by keeping Bunny as hero. He liked the story, but told him that Bunny was doing Arya film. He made Bunny to listen to the story. Bunny liked it and he directly took him to Dil Raju. He made Srinu to narrate Bhadra story to Dil Raju and made Dil Raju give advance to him right away. Team had initially considered Prabhas as hero. But Prabhas’s dates were locked for Chakram film for 8 months. That is when Ravi Teja got in. Two years later in 2007, Venky called Srinu and asked him for an interesting script. He suggested the premise of wife-husband separation and loser husband proving his mettle. He had a script that matches his requirement. Srinu narrated Tulasi story and Suresh Babu accepted it. He insisted Paruchuri Brothers for dialogues and he accepted it. Tulasi was made on a budget of 10 crores and made over 25 crores, this film also was widely accepted by audiences. It was also one of the best films of 2007.[2] In 2010, Seenu had his third release, Simha, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in a dual role, Nayantara and Sneha Ullal. This movie was a blockbuster and became the top grosser of the year 2010 in Telugu Film Industry. After this film, Boyapati got huge fame and became a top director in tollywood. In 2012, he made his fourth film Dhammu starring Jr NTR, Trisha, Karthika Nair. This film got a mixed talk. Now, Srinu is on his project Legend starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Radhika Apte, Sonal Chauhan which is a political drama movie.
