Fribourg is the capital of the Swiss canton of Fribourg. Its German name is Freiburg as it is for the Freiburg in Germany. Frei-burg means free "bourg", a free fort, then a free town. There is no word «fri...» in French, free is «libre». The Italian name is Friburgo or Friborgo.
