Bodø Region
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bodø Region (Norwegian: Bodøregionen) is a metropolitan region in Nordland county in northern Norway, centered on the town of Bodø. Before 1 January 2005, the municipality of Skjerstad was part of the region, but it has since merged into the town of Bodø. There are several "city regions" that the government has declared in Norway.[1]
Municipality | Population | Land Area | Population Density |
---|---|---|---|
Bodø | 43,775 | 1,308 km2 (505 sq mi) | 33 /km2 (85 /sq mi) |
Gildeskål | 2,515 | 619 km2 (239 sq mi) | 4 /km2 (10 /sq mi) |
Beiarn | 1,183 | 1,181 km2 (456 sq mi) | 1 /km2 (2.6 /sq mi) |
Total | 47,473 | 3,108 km2 (1,200 sq mi) | 15 /km2 (39 /sq mi) |
In addition to these areas in the "official" region, many people in neighboring Fauske commute daily to Bodø.
