Bob Trott (born March 19, 1954) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the defensive coordinator at the University of Richmond, a position he has held since March 2010.
Early life
Trott was born in Concord, North Carolina and grew up in Kannapolis.[1]
Coaching career
Cleveland Browns
Trott was named the Cleveland Browns defensive assistant coach on February 26, 2005. Trott connected the Cleveland Browns with about 30 years of coaching education, including five seasons in the NFL with New York Giants and New England Patriots. Trott passed the last two years at the University of Louisiana at Monroe as their defensive coordinator.[1]
Working with coaches
further than his NFL coaching experience, Trott’s knowledge includes serving on the coaching staffs of 11 college bowl teams and has been a defensive coordinator at five NCAA Division I-A universities, plus Arkansas and Clemson. Trott has served as a coach or player under renowned head coaches: Bill Parcells, Al Groh, Ken Hatfield, Fred Goldsmith and Bill Dooley.[1]
Air Force Academy
Trott played at North Carolina under coach Dooley and started his coaching job as a graduate junior at Chapel Hill in 1976. Trott acted regular coaching at the Air Force Academy in 1978, conducting the defensive ends for Bill Parcells.[1]
University of Arkansas
In 1984, Trott went to the University of Arkansas and was defensive backs coach for the Razorbacks (1984-1988) earlier than being propped up to defensive coordinator in 1989. Trott facilitated Arkansas win Southwest Conference championships in 1988 and 1989.[1]
NCAA
Trott moved to Clemson in 1990, serving as the Tigers' defensive coordinator as well as supervising the defensive backs. The Tigers led the NCAA in total defense in 1990. In 1991, Trott moved up to the NFL, linking Ray Handley's staff at the New York Giants as a defensive assistant. Two years presently he rejoined Parcells in New England as defensive backs coach. Trott got a defensive coordinator again in 1996 whilst he linked up the Duke staff. He went to Baylor as defensive coordinator in 2002 sooner than coming to Louisiana Monroe the next season.[1]
