Robert Frederic Heffner (born September 13, 1938 in Allentown, Pennsylvania), nicknamed "Butch," is a retired American professional baseball player. A right-handed pitcher, Heffner appeared in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox (1963–1965), Cleveland Indians (1966) and California Angels (1968). Heffner stood 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) tall and weighed 200 pounds (91 kg).

Through his Major League career, Heffner was used both as starter and reliever. His most productive season came in 1964 with the Red Sox, when he posted career-highs in wins (seven, including a shutout), strikeouts (112), saves (six), games (55) and innings (158-2/3).

In a five-season MLB career, Heffner posted an 11–21 record with a 4.51 ERA and six saves in 114 games, 31 as a starter.

Fact

• Heffner is one of three pitchers in Major League Baseball history to have three putouts in an inning. He did it in 1963, while playing for the Boston Red Sox. The only others to have accomplished this are Jim Bagby, Jr., also with the Red Sox in 1940, and Rick Reuschel with the Chicago Cubs in 1975.
