Robert Moellerig Fry (born November 11, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Kentucky and was drafted in the third round of the 1953 NFL Draft. Fry was also selected by the Cowboys in the 1960 NFL Expansion Draft.
Early years
He attended Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He signed to play football at the University of Kentucky with head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, where he became an offensive tackle.
Professional career
Los Angeles Rams
He was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 1953 NFL Draft.
Although he was a starter at left tackle for all of his first seven seasons, he was left unprotected in the 1960 NFL Expansion Draft.
Dallas Cowboys
Fry was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960 NFL Expansion Draft, becoming the first left tackle in franchise history.
He was a starter at the left side of the line during his first 3 seasons with the Cowboys, until losing his spot to Tony Liscio in the middle of the 1963 season, and being moved to the right tackle starter position.
He retired at the end of the 1964 season after playing in 126 games, during 10 NFL seasons.
