Bluegrass Underground is a monthly musical event hosted in Cumberland Caverns since 2008. In 2011, it became a nationally syndicated television show airing on PBS.[1] The program also airs weekly on the AM radio station WSM.[2]

The show is filmed in front of a live audience at Cumberland Caverns' Volcano Room, 333 feet (101 metres) underground. Bluegrass bands from across the country come to perform in the cave's unique acoustic environment. Filming for Season 3 took place during March 2013. [3]

Awards and nominations

Bluegrass Underground won a Cine Golden Eagle Award for professional non-fiction in spring 2012.[4] It received a Telly Silver Award that same year.[5]
