Blick is a Swiss German-language daily newspaper, published by Ringier in Zurich.

History and operations

Established in 1959, Blick was the first Swiss tabloid. The new format induced controversies: protests began and many boycotted the scandalous newspaper. It was nevertheless a huge financial success. However, in 2009 the daily changed its format to broadsheet.[1]

As of 2004, it had a daily circulation of 275,000 and a readership of 750,000. Only the free daily newspaper 20 Minuten has a higher circulation in Switzerland.[citation needed] The Sunday edition Sonntagsblick has had a circulation of 300,000.

The sister paper of Blick is Blick am Abend, an evening free daily.[2]
