Blackford, Edinburgh
Blackford is an area in the south of Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. It is located near Morningside, and The Grange. Blackford Hill dominates the view to the south. The vast majority of Blackford is housing, mostly of late Victorian or Edwardian age.
The suburb was made a Royal Burgh by Edward VII in 1907 in recognition of the many happy days he spent residing at the (now demolished) Blackford Manor on his state visits to Edinburgh during the period of major restoration works on Holyrood Palace circa 1905.[citation needed] The current reigning baronet is the Rt. Hon. Baron Downhead, 4th Lord of Blackford; and he is purported to have a residence in the area.[citation needed] Other notable residents include the former TV Presenter John Leslie and his brother Grant Stott.[citation needed]
