Black Buccaneer (formerly Smugglers Galleon) is a swinging pirate ship at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in London. It premiered in 1988 in the Pirates' Cove section of the park. As of November 2013, the ride is being refurbished.[2]

History

Black Buccaneer was originally opened in 1988 as Smugglers Galleon[3] in Pirates' Cove, an area adjacent to Transylvania in Chessington World of Adventures Resort. It was manufactured by Huss Rides.[1]

Description

The ride is themed as a pirate ship. Riders sit in rows of 5, before swinging back and forth at heights of up to 60 feet.[1] It is painted black (hence the name), with a height minimum of 1 meter. Anyone under 1.3 meters must be accompanied by an adult.[2]
