Biscuiteers Baking Company is a gifting retailer specialising in hand-iced biscuits, chocolates and cakes. The business started online in 2007 delivering to both the UK and internationally, offering same day, next day delivery and selected date delivery. Biscuiteers also offers a bespoke and corporate service. The company was in the Real Business top 50 in 2011.[1] and has been named as one of the Accelerate 250 fastest growing British companies of 2013.[2] In 2013, huspand and wife team Harriet Hastings and Stevie Congdon received a Power 1000 award which recognises London's most influential people.[3][4]

History

Harriet Hastings co-founded Biscuiteers with her husband, Stevie Congdon in 2007. The company launched online in September 2007 as a remedy to the problem of sending a gift such as flowers. Their idea was to create a new online gift business using biscuits for their flexibility in terms of design, reasonable shelf life and ability to be sent in the post.[5] Biscuiteers icers are all artists by training.[6] Harriet Hasting was recently named one of woman&home’s New Directions Heroes [7] “Biscuiteers Biscuit Boutique and Icing Café” opened in Notting Hill, London in October 2012 and also holds private icing classes at the Biscuiteers School of Icing. The idea for the shop was modelled on a pottery café and was designed to offer both spontaneous and formal icing classes.[8][9] The first edition of The Biscuiteers Book of Iced Biscuits by Harriet Hastings and Sarah Moore was published in 2010.

Products

Most biscuits will stay fresh for six months if unopened. Fruit cakes and chocolates have a minimum shelf life of one month; all other cakes have a shelf life of 5 days. Biscuiteers also offer a cheese and biscuits tin as well as dog biscuit products. Biscuiteers receive corporate commissions often in the form of logos, fashion designs and many other designs for iced biscuits and cakes. They have created bespoke biscuits for Anya Hindmarch, Mulberry, Boden, Swatch, Dior, Cartier, Gucci, Red Bull and Burberry among others, where they want very accurate representations of their designs.[10] They also have a bespoke service for private parties, weddings, christenings, baby showers and birthday parties.

Store

The “Biscuit Boutique & Icing Café” on Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill sells the seasonal biscuit, chocolate and cake collections. The shop also has a drop-in icing café and offers themed icing lessons or children’s icing parties. Icing lessons consist of a two-hour themed session in which participants are taught the methods required to ice a large Biscuiteers tin. All students are given their own tin of iced biscuits, a cotton apron and a copy of the book, The Biscuiteers Book of Iced Biscuits.[11]

Biscuiteers products are also stocked in Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason,[12] Harrods, The Conran Shop, Printemps and le Grand Epicerie in Paris amongst others.[13]
