Birsinghpur is a City, a Nagar Palika and Tehshil in the Satna District in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.
Demographics
As of 2012 India census,[1] Birsinghpur had a population of 30000. Males constituted 51.77% of the population and females 48.23%.
Etymology
Birsinghpur was the name of satna "MAHARAJA VEERSINGH JOODEO" in the 19th century at a time when BNR (Satna-Allahabad RLY) traffic started between Satna-Allahabad section in Feb-March 1891.
Geography
Birsinghpur is a very big town and tehseel and police station of 150 villages. The city area is 35 kilometres (22 mi) in East, 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) is West, 32 kilometres (20 mi) North and 28 kilometres (17 mi) South. Birsinghpur is situated on the Birsinghpur-Satna road (SH52), at a distance of about 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Satna and 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) from Jaitwara. Another road goes from Birsinghpur to Jaitwara and Rewa via Majhgawa at a distance of about 20 kilometres (12 mi). Another road goes from Birsinghpur to Rewa via saimarya road as of 2014. Birsinghpur is also a bus stand on the Jaitwara-Satna section of the S.E.C road. Birsinghpur has a big power plant from state which is supplying 1340 M.W Electricity as of 2012 to Madhya Pradesh.
Health
There is a 30 bed government hospital in Birsinghpur. The nearest airport is in Rewa. There is also a Government Degree College in Birsinghpur.
