Birjand County (Persian: شهرستان بیرجند) is a county in South Khorasan province, Iran. The capital of the county is Birjand. At the 2006 census, the county's population (including those portions later split off to form Khusf County) was 221,756, in 60,240 families; excluding those portions, the population (as of 2006) was 196,834, in 52,986 families.[1] The county has one district (bakhsh): Central District. The county has one city: Birjand.
