Bionico is popular Mexican desert that originated in the city of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico.[1] It is essentially a fruit salad consisting of a variety of fruits chopped up into small cubes, drenched with crema and topped off with granola, shredded coconut, raisins and sometimes honey.[1][2] Any kind of fruit can be used, but it is most commonly made with Papaya, Cantaloupe, Honeydew Melon, Strawberries, Apples and Banana. The crema is usually a mix of condensed milk and sour cream, although there are many different recipes.[1][2]

Bionicos were first invented by a street vendor in the city of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico in the early 1990s.[1][3] It was originally intended to be a healthy breakfast item. The popularity of the dessert quickly spread and it is now served in many parts of Mexico and even some parts of the United States. Bionicos are primarily served by street vendors and juice bars.

There is another variation of bionico, called bionico hawaiiano, which uses cottage cheese instead of condensed milk and sour cream. This variations is usually served with honey drizzled on top.
