Bethania is a railway station on the Beenleigh Line of Brisbane, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network.
History
The station opened in July 1885. When the Beaudesert railway line opened in May 1888, the station became known as Bethania Junction and retained that name until the 1943.[1][2] Refreshment rooms opened in 1908 and closed in 1964.[2]
Service
Bethania is in a transition precinct between Zone 6 and Zone 7 of the TransLink integrated public transport system. It is the branching point for the Beaudesert line.
Bethania is served by the Beenleigh Line, a suburban regional rail line running south from Brisbane Central to Beenleigh.
In the northbound (Brisbane Central-bound) direction, trains make all stops to Brisbane, taking 57 minutes to arrive at Central station at an average of 37.0 km/h (23.0 mph).[3] During weekday peak times, some trains skip all stations between Sunnybank and Park Road apart from Coopers Plains and Yeerongpilly, shortening the trip time to 52 minutes at an average of 40.6 km/h (25.2 mph).[3] Trains heading northbound continue onto the Ferny Grove or Caboolture Lines.[3]
