Bergman, California

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bergman is a former settlement in Riverside County, California.[1] Bergman was located 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Aguanga.[1]

The Bergman post office opened in 1894 and was moved to Aguanga in 1901.[2] The name honored Jacob Bergman, an early driver and agent for the Butterfield Overland Stage and Civil War veteran who later owned the Dutchman's or Gifthaler Ranch on which the old Tejungo Station was located. Jacob Bergman was a postmaster for the area for many years and a San Diego County Supervisor.[1]
