Berd river, the city of Berdsk and the Berdsk gulf

Berd (Russian: Бердь) is a river in Russia, right arm of the Ob River.

Flows from the western slopes of the Salair ridge, makes 30 km in Altai Krai territory and the rest in Novosibirsk Oblast. Flows into the Novosibirsk water reservoir, which submerged 40 km of the original Berd` river after construction.

Length - 363 km (416 originally), water basin — 8,740 km2..

Annual water expenditure - 45,8 cubic meters per second. Iceforming in first weeks of November, icebreaking in middle April.

Naming, as thought, is from Turkic languages "berdu" ("birdu") with the meaning of "beru" or "taken".

Two cities - Berdsk (Russian: Бердск) and Iskitim (Russian: Искитим)
