Ben Hampton is an Australian rugby league footballer, currently playing for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League.

Early Life

Born in North Queensland, Hampton played his junior football for the Mareeba Gladiators.[2]

From there, Hampton was signed by National Rugby League club the Melbourne Storm and put into a development program. He played for the Storm in the Toyota Cup and represented Queensland at under-15, under-16 and under-18 level. In 2012 he was promoted to the Melbourne Storm's full-time squad and was selected to captain the Maroons in the inaugural U20 State of Origin match.

NRL Career

In 2013 Hampton played for the Storm's feeder team in the NSW Cup, the Cronulla Sharks.[3]

Hampton made an outstanding first grade debut on 24 June 2013 against the Gold Coast Titans where he scored the Storm's two tries, made an impressive try saving tackle on Ashley Harrison, was heavily involved in the match despite taking a number of heavy hits from larger opponents, and took on a kicking role after usual playmaker Gareth Widdop was stretchered from the field.[4]
