Benjamin William "Ben" Elliot (born 11 August 1975) is an English businessman, philanthropist, and nephew of HRH Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.[1]

Early life

Ben is the son of Simon Elliot and Sonia Annabel Shand. His mother is the younger sister of Camilla Rosemary Shand, and they have a younger brother Mark Shand. His maternal grandfather was Bruce Shand. On his father's side, his grandfather was Air Chief Marshal Sir William Elliot GCVO KCB KBE DFC RAF.

Elliot was educated at Eton College and graduated with a BSc in Politics and Economics from the University of Bristol.

Career

Elliot is the co-founder of Quintessentially Group, the luxury lifestyle group with a 24 hour global concierge service, which he started in London in December 2000.[2]

Elliot is the chairman of the Quintessentially Foundation. Since its establishment in 2008, Quintessentially Foundation has raised £2 million that has led to the realisation of some incredible projects. From building a school in Nepal for 250 pupils with Room to Read, to helping 10,000 children in Croydon and Enfield recover from the 2011 London Riots.

In 2013 the Foundation hopes to raise over one million via their fun- filled events; a shooting night, the bike ride, the poker night and a Christmas carol concert. The proceeds will be donated to their 2013 partner charities, Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres, RAPt and Rays of Sunshine. Maggie's Centres give support to those suffering from Cancer, RAPt works to help people with drug and alcohol dependence, and Rays of Sunshine grant wishes for seriously ill children across the UK.

Elliot was also the founder of Quintessentially Soho, a private members’ club which raised money for the House of St. Barnabas homelessness charity.

Elliot is also a non-executive director of You Gov plc.[3] He is the executive producer of the award-winning documentary Fire in Babylon. In 2012 he was involved in the fundraising for Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

He is a regular contributor to the Financial Times, The New York Times, Country Life and Tatler amongst other publications. He has been a guest on Newsnight on a number of occasions.

Personal life

Elliot married Mary-Clare Winwood, daughter of the musician Steve Winwood in a society wedding in 2011.[4][5] They have one son and live in West London.[6]
