Belleville Primary School is a state run school in Battersea, South London, England. It caters for around 750 pupils, and is Non-denominational.[3]
History
Belleville School is a Primary School situated on Webbs road in Battersea, South London. The school itself is an old Victorian building, and is a Non-denominatioal State school which is run by Wandsworth Borough Council. It caters for children between the ages of 3 through to 11 and has its own nursery for pre-school children. In 2011 Belleville was given Academy status.[4]
Belleville Primary School also has a sister school on Meteor street in Battersea, managed under the same name, the two schools often come together for a wide range of events.[5]
Dress code
Belleville school, has an informal dress code. The school uniform for (years 3–11) consists of colours such as white, light blue, and navy blue and must be either a polo shirt, fleece, sweatshirt, or cardigan/jumper. Trousers, shorts and skirts must be Grey, navy blue, or black. Sensible practical shoes. Dresses must be blue and white gingham checked, and headscarves worn must be in school colours of navy blue, light blue, or white, as does the schools P.E. kit.[6]
Year groups
Nusery -- A place that caters for pre-school children.
Year Reception -- Jolly Phonics is taught with actions to support the teaching of Reading and Writing. Every day the school focus' on a different letter and sound, which is beneficial for children.
Year 1 -- Belleville continues to reinforce what makes an excellent learner. The school encourages children to identify within themselves and others the skills involved through PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education). The school also encourages healthy eating at Belleville and awards healthy eating stickers that can be put on a wall chart. When the chart is full they will be awarded a special certificate in assembly.
Year 2 -- Subjects taught include English, History and Science. The school praises children with certificates, stickers and a class reward system.
Year 3 -- Subjects taught include, English, Science, History, ICT, Music, Art, P.E., D.T., and R.E. Trips and events are also organised by Belleville to help bring the curriculum alive.
Year 4 -- Subjects taught in year 4 at Belleville include, English, Science, History, ICT, Music, Art, P.E., D.T., and R.E.
Year 5 -- PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), the school reinforces what makes an Excellent Learner. Belleville encourages children to identify within themselves and others the skills involved. Subjects taught include, English, Science, History and Music.
Year 6 -- Children are praised with certificates, stickers and the classes own reward system. The school organise trips to bring the curriculum alive, with trips to Hampton Court Palace and The National Gallery, the school also visits the Wetlands Centre which links into Science projects on Habitats.
Clubs
Clubs before school
The school offers a number of clubs including, Tennis, Gym Football, Cricket and Recorders. As well as Fitness, Dance, Athletics, Orchestra and Ukulele.
Lunchtime clubs
Belleville also offers a lunchtime club for Gymnastics.
Clubs after school
After school clubs include, Choir, Piano, French, Violin, Mandarin, as well as Art, Guitar, German, La Jolie Ronde, Football, Netball, Italian, Flamenco, Rugby, Bible Studies and Homework Club.
Sports
The children at Belleville Primary School receive an extremely high standard of teaching in a wide range of sports related activities and Specialist coaching is an established part of the schools curriculum. The school have provided excellent provision for Gymnastics and the children have specialist teaching for games. Swimming lessons are also provided and take place in particular year groups.
