Roblekov dom na Begunjščici

Begunjščica is a ridge mountain in Karawanks. It starts from western Smokuška planina to Sv. Ana on eastern side. There are many peaks, the highest is Veliki vrh (2060 m), western Srednji vrh lies a little lower, the lowest being Begunjska Vrtača (1997 m). Southern slopes rise over valley Draga.

The ascent to mountain is relativetly easy and possible through the year. In the winter and early spring are conditions favourable for touring skiing.

  • 4½h: from Begunje (616 m), over Planina Prevalaand Begunjska Vrtača
  • 3½-4h: from Podljubelj, over Preval and Begunjska Vrtača
  • 2½h: from Planinski dom na Zelenici (1536 m), over transverzala
  • 1h: from Roblekov dom na Begunjščici (1657 m), over transverzala

Panoramic view

There is a nice panoramic view from the top. Towards west there is Bohinj with its lake, lake Bled, Triglav, Martuljška skupina with Škrlatica, Stol, Vrtača, Košuta on the north. On the eastern side there are Kamnik Savinja Alps with Storžič, and Ljubljanska kotlina on the south.

Vegetation

There is a wide variety of vegetation especially on grassy slopes on the southern slope near the top. Some of the species (in Latin) are Scorzonera rosea, Leontopodium alpinum, Iris graminea, Gentiana pannonica, Ranunculus seguieri, Campanula zoysii and Festuca laxa.
