Beatrix is a Latin name. It is derived from Viatrix, the feminine form of the late Latin name Viator which meant "voyager, traveller". It was also a common name amongst early Christians, though the spelling was altered by association with the Latin beatus, meaning "blessed".[1]
The Spanish and Portuguese form of this name is Beatriz,[2] the Italian form is Beatrice and the French form is Béatrice. See Beatrice (given name) for other derivatives.
