Beanibazar (Bengali: বিয়ানিবাজার) is an Upazila of Sylhet District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh. Beanibazar Cancer Hospital is located in Beanibazar Sylhet. It has one of the highest literacy rate.
History
The name "Beanibazar", is a variant of 'Bihani Bazaar' which means "morning market". In the past, Beanibazar was surrounded mostly by jungles infested with wild beasts that attacked people regularly at night. They made it almost impossible for the residents to go to bazaar after dusk to buy or sell daily necessary items. For this reason most of the shopping activities were held in the morning and hence the name Biyani Bazaar.[citation needed] Previously, Beanibazar was constituent part of Panchakhanda, which means "Five Parts".
Geography

Beanibazar Cancer Hospital
Beanibazar Cancer hospital is located in Beanibazar, Sylhet. To provide information and raise public awareness of all matters relating to cancer and healthcare. We intend to serve not only Sylhet, the North East of Bangladesh but also Assam and north east India. We will create a specialist research centre and create a register of cancer patients in Bangladesh. [1]
There is very little specialist cancer care in Bangladesh. The only specialist provision is in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh and even this is very limited.
