"Bawitdaba" is a song by American musician Kid Rock, from his album Devil Without a Cause.
Description
The chorus is a mix of old school rap chants. The first part is from rapper Busy Bee, then second part from Sugar Hill Gang on their seminal rap hit "Rapper's Delight".
The song was performed during the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show in 2004.
Music Video
The music video was directed by Dave Meyers.[1]
Awards and honors
The song was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2000 (Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance) and it peaked at No. 10 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks, No. 11 on the Modern Rock Charts, and No. 104 on the Hot 100 on July 13, 1999. In 2009, it was named the 47th best hard rock song of all time by VH1.[2]
Other appearances in popular culture
"Weird Al" Yankovic covered this song as part of his "Angry White Boy Polka" from his 2003 album Poodle Hat. It also features prominently in the pilot episode of the crime drama TV series The Shield.
The song was also played in the The Simpsons episode "Kill the Alligator and Run", in which Kid Rock makes a guest appearance.
It was played in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift during the first race of the movie.
It was featured in the trailer to the 1999 football drama, "Any Given Sunday".
It was also used in the movie Ready to Rumble
