Barsoi

Barsoi is head quarters of a subdivision in Katihar district in the state of Bihar, India. It is an important railway junction under Katihar division Northeast Frontier Railway zone of Indian Railways.[1]

Barsoi Junction connects four routes as in the north Siliguri Junction on Meter Gauge and New Jalpaiguri Junction on Broad Gauge, on meter gauges Radhikapur near Bangladesh border on east and Katihar Junction on West and on south Kumedpur Junction, Malda junction and Howrah.[2]

Surjapuri is the main language spoken in Barsoi. Hindi,Bengali & Surjapuri are other languages of Barsoi

DIVISIONS: Barsoi subdivision is divided into four community developnent blocks- Ka-dwa,Azamnagar,Barsoi & Balrampur

GEOGROPHY: The Barsoi subdivision is spread in around 1450 km square area. The climate of Barsoi has great diversity with high rain fall mainly in the months of June to September. Min temperature go in winter is around 10¤c & maximum temperature go in summer is around 42¤c.

TOWNSTRUCTURE: The subdivision headquarter is situated at the primacy of town Barsoi Bazar. The Barsoi town is come under punchayat raj Sultanpur. Barsoi railway station is situated at 4 km from subdivision headquarter. The main places(chowkes) of Barsoi are- 1.Asha chowk 2.Masjid chowk 3.Rash chowk 4.New market 5.Machhli hatti 6.Durga sthan chowk
