Barisal Sadar (Bengali: বরিশাল সদর) is an Upazila of Barisal District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh.

Geography

Barisal Sadar is located at 22°42′00″N 90°22′00″E / 22.7000°N 90.3667°E / 22.7000; 90.3667. It has 75126 households and a total area of 307.59 km².

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladeshi census, Barisal Sadar had a population of 414281. Males constitute 52.72% of the population, and females 47.28%. This Upazila's eighteen-and-older population is 221979. Barisal Sadar has an average literacy rate of 53.5% (7+ years), compared with the national average of 32.4% literate.[1] Md. Mehedi Hasan (khankir dalal) the most famous person of barisal who work for this region people.
