Bargur (also known as Barguru) is a town panchayat in Krishnagiri district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.
Geography
Bargur is located at 12°33′N 78°22′E / 12.55°N 78.37°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 533 m (1,749 ft).
Education
There is a government college of engineering started (in 1994) with three branches (EEE, ECE & CSE). It has hostel facilities for both boys and girls. This engineering college is the youngest of the 6 government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated to Anna university as a constituent college. There is a bill introduced in the State Assembly to delink its Constituent college status and revert it back to government control with affiliation to Anna University.
The college was originally housed in 2 buildings within the government polytechnic campus krishnagiri. It was shifted to its present campus at Bargur in July 2000.
There is a Polytechnic in Bargur managed by Institute of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT). It has 3 branches (EEE, ECE & CSE).

Economy
Bargur is famous for its mango fruits and export oriented fruit processing factories. Bargur has a famous Textile Market with turnover of crores and crores of rupees.
