Origin

The Bargaiyan are a Rajput clan found in the district of Ghazipur in eastern Uttar Pradesh. They claim to be a clan of Chauhan Rajputs, who left Mainpuri in the Middle Ages and settled in Ghazipur. The clan is said to get its name from Baragan, their original settlement in Ghazipur. Bargaiyan literally means those from Baragaon in Hindi. Outside Ghazipur District, they are also found in Ballia and Raebareli Districts. [1]
