Bareilly Airport (Hindi: बरेली एयरपोर्ट, Urdu: بریلی ہوائی اڈا) also known as Bareilly Air Force Station or Trishul Air Base (IATA: BEK), is a military airbase at Izzatnagar on the outskirts of Bareilly, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. "Bareilly Airport" is a misnomer and this is not the official name of the airbase. The airbase is not open to civilians except some high government officials for government work.

The air force station is one of the largest airbases of the Indian Air Force (IAF). It is part of Central Air Command. It has a squadron of State of the art fighters, the Sukhois and the helicopter squadrons. The Trishul air-base in Bareilly had Foxbats capable of flying up to 80,000 feet.[1][2][3]

The underground hangar it possesses is considered to be one of the largest in Asia. Bareilly has a major settlement of the Indian Army's regimental headquarter of Jat Regiment. Bareilly also has the regional headquarters of Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Border Security Force.

Civilian Terminal Building

The government has passed orders for the use of Trishul's runway for the domestic airport being constructed in Bareilly.[citation needed] Adjoining land of "Van-Chetna Kendra" has been acquired by the government for this proposal and the construction of the domestic passenger terminal will start soon, in fact a land block of 25 acres near Ahmed Nagar has already been acquired for this purpose and as per statement issued by Airport Authority of India, the terminal building will be ready to use by end of 2014 if everything goes fine. The Russian-origin Su-30 MKI are the backbone of IAF and have been deployed at Bareilly.
