Barbeque Nation is an Indian restaurant chain owned by Indore-based Hotel SAYAJI. The first restaurant opened in Mumbai in January 2006. Shortly after its start in Mumbai, it opened in other cities such as Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.[1]
Background
Barbeque Nation is operated by Sayaji Hotels Limited, an Vadodara-based hotel chain. The restaurant first opened in January 2006 in Mumbai[2] with the idea of setting up outlets in other major cities like Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat and Coimbatore.[3]
In 2007, additional restaurants were opened in Bangalore and Hyderabad.[4] Every table in a Barbeque Nation outlet has a live-grille on it, which customers use to cook their food.[3][5]
Every table has embedded grills giving customers the opportunity to try out their culinary skills with the three-fourth cooked vegetables and meats. The business house is run by a team of 3,000 young and dynamic professionals. Keeping in mind changing guest needs, the initiatives taken by Barbeque Nation in form of food events have been largely appreciated. Some of the best dishes on the menu are Chermoula Prawns, Shish Kebabs and Cajun Spiced Potatoes.[6]
Expansion
The restaurant had 36 outlets in India as of August 2013.[7] In addition to the Mumbai and Pune it has outlets in various other cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Mohali, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat.[8] As of 2008, the company had plans to open centres across Dubai, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, after establishing itself as a major restaurant chain in India.[9]
Miele Guide has listed Barbeque Nation as one among the Top 100 restaurants in Asia and among the top 20 restaurants in India.[7] As of July 2012, the company has announced plans to open 30 more outlets in India by March 2013.[7]
Menu
In addition to grilled food, the restaurant serves soups, salads, and desserts,[3] which are a mix of Mediterranean, Pan-Asian, American, Oriental, and Continental cuisine.[2] The restaurant offers live vegetarian and non-vegetarian Barbeque starters in unlimited helpings, a main course buffet, soups, salads, desserts and a variety of liquors.
