Barauni (Hindi बरौनी) (Urdu برونی) is a town in the state of Bihar, India.

Barauni was once an Industrial town in Begusarai district, Bihar. After the partition of the Jharkhand from Bihar, it had and still has the potential to become the industrial capital of Bihar.[1]-[citation needed]

The town situated at the bank of the holy river Ganges is connected by a Railway-cum-Road bridge over connecting North Bihar and South Bihar known as Rajendra Setu officially but as Mokama bridge in common parlance.

Barauni Junction is one of the important stations in Bihar. It is a junction and is connected to the all the four metropolis New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai through important Broad Gauge Routes. It takes around 15 hours to reach Barauni from New Delhi through train. It is the gateway for the North-East states, it connects the whole country with the North-East States.Barauni has two railways stations namely (I)Barauni Junction, platform no. 1 is listed as new barauni, which has some distance from Barauni junction (III) Barauni Flag. National Highway 28 (India) start at Barauni and National Highway 31 (India) passes through this town. Both national highway having junction here. Bus,Jeep,Taxi,Rickshaw,Auto used for local transportation.

One of the Historic government school is RKC(Radha Kishen Chamaria) High School, Phulwaria. It houses more than 1000 students in an academic year and 50 teaching staffs.

5.APSM(Ayodhya Prasad Singh Smarak Memorial) college Barauni affiliated to Darbhanga University is famous for its undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science and Arts.

6.BARO Middle School One of the Historic Government School Established in 1873. Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Rashtriya Kavi was Study in this School.
