Baja Verapaz (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈbaxa βeɾaˈpas]) is a department in Guatemala. The capital is Salamá.

Baja Verapaz houses the Mario Dary Biotope Preserve, preserving the native flora and fauna of the region, especially the endangered national bird of Guatemala, the Resplendent Quetzal.
