Critical reception

"Bairiyaa" received mixed reviews from critics and reviewers. The Times of India wrote: "The song has a magical feel to it and the singers' soothing voices are mesmerizing. It gradually changes pace as more instruments join in. Both singers take the song to another level, making it worth hearing."[2] Anand Holla of Mumbai Mirror wrote— "Bariyan's smart odd-time beats can't pull it out of its inherent dullness."[3] Oye! Times wrote: "We once again see a fresh reinvention of Atif in the haunting Bairiya, whose soft mode is exceptional. Easily the best song on the score with its layered structure and superb lyrics (Palkon Ki Dibiyon Mein Rehte / Khwab Hain Uddne Ko Kehte / Haathon Se Chhoota, Chhoota Chala Hai Jeeya), Bairiya begins with the Arabic string instrument ood in the prelude by Shreya, who sings with a soft and seductive tenor."[4]

Singer comments

In an interview with the The New Indian Express, singer Atif Aslam told that out of his three songs in Ramaiya Vastavaiya, he loves "Bairiyaa" the most. He also credited the song for its soft and melodious beats.[5]
