Baie Verte-Springdale is a provincial electoral district for the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. As of 2011 it has 8,067 eligible voters.[1]
It contains the communities of: La Scie, Shoe Cove, Nippers' Harbour, Smith's Harbour, Burlington, Middle Arm, Purbecks Cove, Westport, Seal Cove, Wild Cove, Fleur de Lys, Coachmen's Cove, Baie Verte, Ming's Bight, Pacquet, Woodstock, Harbour Round, Brent's Cove, Round Harbour, Snook's Arm, Harry's Harbour, Jackson's Cove, Silverdale, Langdon's Cove, Nick's Nose Cove, Rattling Brook, King's Point, Beachside, Little Bay, Coffee Cove, St. Patricks and Little Bay Islands.
The economy depends heavily on fishing and sealing. While sealing has done well in recent years, the groundfishery remains poor. Richmont operates a gold mine near King's Point, and mineral exploration continues in the area. The district has voted Tory since 1982, with the exception of a by-election. The district's borders shifted slightly south and west in the new redistribution, taking in small parts of the Humber Valley and the former Grand Falls-Buchans districts.
