Baettaragi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Baettaragi is a folk song from the Pyeongan province of Korea. It means "Boat's Departing" in the Pyeongan dialect of Korean. The epically interwoven song tells of the weary life of a sailor. The chief features of the song are its irregular tempo and its Susimga melodic style. The Susimga is a plaintive, forlorn style of folk song lamenting the futility of life. Baettaragi was possibly influenced by the style of folk songs sung in the Gyeonggi province.
