Baek Ah Yeon (Hangul : 백아연, born on March 11, 1993) is a South Korean solo singer who debuted in JYP Entertainment. She is known as the third finalist of South Korea's talent show, K-pop Star Season 1.

Biography

Ah Yeon was born on March 11, 1993. She was one of the popular talent show contestants on K-pop Star which featured judges from the big three entertainment agencies (SM, YG, JYP). She is currently studying at the Department of Practical Music at Howon University. At an early age prior to the competition, she underwent cancer treatment which made JYP refer to her as a person with a "Steel Heart". This made her even more popular with the viewers aside from her fresh, clear and pure singing voice.

Career

2011-2012 : K-Pop Star

She appeared on South Korea's talent show K-pop Star. She was also one of the top three alongside Park Ji-min and Lee Ha-yi. After she got eliminated, she received numerous phone calls from several entertainment agencies because of her sweet and smooth vocals.[1] After K-pop Star Season 1 winner, Park Ji Min decided to sign a deal with JYP Entertainment[2] it was revealed that Baek Ah Yeon and Park Jae Hyung also decided to sign contracts with JYP Entertainment.[3]

2012 : Debut with 'Sad Song'

On September 2, JYP Entertainment announced that Baek Ah Yeon will have her debut with her debut album "I'm Baek".[4] 2PM's member Jun. K produced a song for her called "Always" and he's featured in the song which is a part of her debut album.[5] On September 5, the teaser of her upcoming debut song "Sad Song" was revealed.[6] On September 10, the Music Video "Sad Song" composed by Super Changddai with lyrics by JYP was revealed on YouTube.[7] On September 13, she collaborated in a classic version of "Sad Song" with pianist Lee Jin Wook and Odd Eye.[8]

2013 : Comeback with 'A Good Boy'

On June 11, a teaser video for Baek Ah Yeon's second mini album, "A Good Girl" was released featuring herself, as well as fellow labelmates, miss A's Jia and Suzy.[9] On June 13, JYP Entertainment released a set of teaser pictures on Baek Ah Yeon's official website.[10] A music video teaser for the title track, 'A Good Boy' was also later revealed that same day.[11]
